You are right. I just bought an 08 standard with the new radio in it and got the upgraded speakers right away. For me it enhances the ride. Think about it cruisin down a back road with some good old classic rock playing. Oh yeah nothin better.

As soon as I could afford it, I put some amplified speakers for an MP3 player on my Road King and love them. Having tunes on the bike is truly the best of both worlds. Dont get me wrong, there are times I just wanna cruise and hear the wind and pipes, but theres nothing like hearing a good George Strait song while touring thru the HILL COUNTRY in south Texas.

I stand by my beliefs: no tunes on a motorcycle. Its just one step removed from a blue tooth or texting while riding (which i've seen before). Get on your bike to ride, not to jam out.

i just bought my first bagger. and i love having some tunes going down the road. i road for years without music. never did ride with headphones in. music helps me, as the OP stated "detach from the rest of the world". why roll down a long highway thinking about work, bills, and relationship crap when you can crank up some music?

Sounds like Longhair & I are of the same generation. Been riding just under 3 years, 2008 FLHRC, Stage III 103 kit", Dragonfly Fairing , lower fairings, etc, with almost 34,00 miles on it(all mine). Longhair, if you're anything like me you have some favorite "Old Skool" tunes you like. Sometimes I like to ride & listen to my sounds, especially on a long ride. other times I just want to hear the sweet rumble of those Bassani pipes. That's why these bikes are so great, you can personalize it just the way you want. I think my bike is one of the baddest on the road, but I enjoy seeing other bikes that may arguably be badder than mine. That personalization of these bikes just adds to my pleasure, whether they have sounds or not. If you want to hear the bike, just shut off the audio like I sometimes do.
Now, I'm interestested in the "Loud Lowers" speaker system by StreetStar. Does anyone out there have this system or heard it. I'd like to hear your opinion of it.
