Last fall I bought a 2008 Screamin Eagle Road King. The first thing I did was put on True duals and the Hd heavy breather air filter, then had it recalibrated. The dealer had the bike about 2 months and did some updates - head gaskets, compression releases, and some other gaskest and the through bolt for the crankcase halves. The engine seems to perform fine, but the engine is a little noisy at certain RPMS - clicking noises. Anyway a friend of mine has been looking for a screaming Eagle bike and the dealers are telling him that there are some big problems with the 110 engines. I did a little research on the internet and it seems that if you leave the bike stock, and run poor fuel that they seem to run too hot, at least thats what I've noticed from what people are saying. I read a few things that say if you do the mods like I have and recal that most or all of the problems disappear , just use good fuel and or octane booster. I'm looking for any input on this subject. What is the truth. My friend wants to stay away from the 110 engine, and I'm wondering if I bought a bag of problems. So far so good. I'd appreciate your input on this subject. Thanks

Have you read the Donnie Petersen articles in AIM? The biggest issue with the 110's is an oil leak from the rear head gaskets caused by excessive heat. A really good series, with some worthwhile conclusions and fixes.
